The weekend of May 25, 2013, another great event took place not far from the Croisette, the Grand Prix de Monaco 2013 6th round of the Formula 1 season: sports performance, actor’s shock, unexpected visitors and always fine watch making backstage.

Nico Rosberg

Because the two worlds are intertwined, watchmakers, for who some actors represent, were also present.

Sponsors and watch brands were in power.

This year, the Grand Prix of the most legendary Formula 1 took place in utter turmoil. On the rock, the talk was that. And on arrival it was Nico Rosberg, who started on pole, who crossed the line first. A particularly beautiful and symbolic that his father, Kete Rosberg won the Monaco Grand Prix in the sight of Prince Rainier III victory that is exactly 30 years. Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso, Massa, Webber and Raikkonen could not do anything.

Starting with the official timekeeper of the event: Rolex, who had made impressive ways to multiply its visibility. Because the brand announced its partnership with Formula 1 mt and also reiterated its commitment to the world of motor racing. A commitment completely valid since crowned brand is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its favorite model: the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona.

Watchmaker Tag Heuer had also joined the party; What could be more normal for a partner of the event for over 28 years, and a contributor to Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. The brand has its star drivers Romain Grosjean, Sergio Perez, Alain Prost, Sebastien Ogier and Jenson Button.

Jenson Button, Sergio Perez and Romain Grosjean, who attended the celebration and are usually, represent respectively the CHRONOGRAPH CALIBRE 16 AUTOMATIC DAY-DATE 43 MM, the AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPH CALIBRE 41 MM in 1887, and the TAG HEUER CARRERA CALIBRE 16 AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPH DAY DATE MONACO GRAND PRIX 43 MM.

Recall that the Carrera is also celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the Monaco is the flagship model of the brand and that this passion and exuberance for the world of Formula 1 was born Formula 1 collection.

Many other watch brands would carve out the lion’s share in the race for partnerships with F1. Audemars Piguet is already well under way since it counts in its sponsor Michael Schumacher. Richard Mille, very focused on sports partnerships and sponsor the Lotus Formula 1 team put him on as his sponsor Felipe Massa and since the beginning of 2013, on Sebastien Loeb.

Monaco Grand Prix 2013

But after this weekend of competition, a watch brand can be especially in the spotlight because it’s the one that has partnered with the winner of the Monaco Grand Prix: Nico Rosberg. IWC has announced the arrival of not one but two sponsors, Mercedes AMG Petronas drivers on Formula 1 Team as Lewis Hamilton (former sponsor of Tag Heuer) is also part of the fun!

Beware, the partnership between AMG and IWC existed for almost ten years and the combination with these two great drivers only reinforces and seal esteem and friendship to the foundations already conclusive.

Both men speak on what links to watch: “I like watches and I think those manufactured by IWC have a lot in common with Formula 1 drivers: they are unique, effective and among the best in their field. Needless to say, I look forward to our collaboration with the factory, “said Lewis Hamilton.

And Nico Rosberg added: “I was impressed by IWC watches. The design is just unique, but it is not just a matter of aesthetics: the housings are equipped with a cutting-edge technology with high performance. Being a sponsor of this brand, it’s like seeing an old friend. My first watch was an IWC watch, a gift from my father. ”

TAG Heuer Monaco

Viewpoints which partly explain all the similarities that can be created between the watch and Formula 1.

Actors Cameron Diaz and Leonardo Di Caprio, were present at the Grand Prix for the races but also celebrate the partnership between Tag Heuer, sports event and the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM), they are both sponsors. And it goes without saying that during this fabulous weekend everyone wore his watch: the new Monaco chronograph ACM latest edition of an iconic collection launched in 1969 to Cameron Diaz, a TAG Heuer Monaco 24 for Leonardo Di Caprio.

Last highlight of the Grand Prix de Monaco 2013; and there are not looking for relationships with watch making: the presence of Daft Punk. Whatever … the home of Columbia disc that produced the latest album of DP, Random Access Memory, is a sponsor of Lotus…

The two musicians have therefore caused a sensation by appearing on the track on Sunday afternoon alongside Romain Grosjean and Kimi Raikkonen, coming straight from the Lotus team.
