Baume & Mercier Clifton Automatic Date Retrograde — SIHH 2014

Clifton Automatic Retrograde exhibits a calendar with power reserve indication and retrograde date features. Alexandre Peraldi who is the director of the Design Studio of Baume & Mercier says,”nothing is more complicated than building a simple watch. “This piece of steel with a diameter of 43 mm and with a self-winding mechanical heart has been the subject of a major reflection. The presence of several features on the dial has required a great job of visual balance, designed to ensure perfect readability”.

Featuring a case that mimics the lines of a model Baume & Mercier 50’s would be a simple thing to do. The watch contains silver dial with sunray finishing that allows the reading of the hour, minute and seconds thanks to the central hands. The watch is capable of featuring a functional sinker, the Calibre that also offers the display of the day in a small counter at 9 o’clock, retrograde date at 3 o’clock and the power reserve at 6 o’clock. The office of the mainspring provides approximately 40 hours of autonomy.
